If you’re a Part II Architectural Assistant or a Project Architect with 3 – 5 years’ UK experience and you fancy a change of scene, then please get in touch. We are also looking for a talented and enthusiastic Part I Architectural Assistant who is looking for a placement for a minimum of two years.

Experience of Revit will be an advantage, as will a good working knowledge of the Adobe suite. But neither of these is as important as enthusiasm, tenacity, and compassion.

Salaries

RCKa has a transparent pay scale for all grades and is a London Living Wage employer.

The starting salary for a graduate Part 1 Architectural Assistants is £25,500 per annum. Part 2 Architectural Assistants can expect to be paid between £30,750 and £34,500 depending on their experience. Project Architects earn between £39,000 and £46,500.

Part II Architectural Assistants

We are looking for the right people to join our friendly and collaborative studio to help deliver a wide range of innovative residential and community schemes.

You will be part of a project team, delivering a specialist residential project through stages 2a to 4a. Experience on residential projects is desirable and knowledge of Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, and the Adobe Creative Suite would be a significant advantage.

Graphic Designer

RCKa architects has an exciting opportunity for a graduate graphic designer with a minimum of one-year post-graduate mixed media and graphics experience.

We are looking for the right person to join our team to help build RCKa’s brand and identity in our friendly central London studio. You’ll be working on a range of visual material including documents and publications, presentations, and competition submissions. Extensive knowledge of typography, Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop is a must. A good understanding of WordPress would also be useful.

Ours is a friendly studio which specialises in community engagement and collaboration. Candidates will need to demonstrate evidence of their design process and should be comfortable in articulating their ideas and sharing them with others.

This is a full-time, permanent position.

Role

  • Design templates for all office documents, brochures, presentations, and publications
  • Produce reports, brochures, presentations, and publications
  • Produce graphics for articles to be issued on social media including Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn
  • Design and manage production of quarterly newsletter and other digital marketing campaigns
  • Design and manage production of hard copy marketing materials
  • Design and manage engagement microsites in WordPress
  • Prepare diagrams, illustrations and infographics to support bid documents, public consultation presentations and project reports
  • Develop bespoke branding and wayfinding signage for buildings
  • Other ad-hoc design requirements such as invitations and Christmas cards and photo editing

Skills and qualifications

  • A relevant degree or other higher education qualification
  • Conscientious and creative with an exceptional eye for detail
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills
  • Self-motivated and able to take the initiative in developing new graphics
  • Reliable and dependable
  • Ability to multi-task and work well under pressure

Architectural Technician

Fixed term contract (with possibility to extend) start ASAP to end August. Immediate start.

Key responsibilities:

  • Produce Revit drawing / model info as relevant to the RIBA stage of the project
  • Undertake daily model maintenance
  • Weekly handling of incoming and outgoing models between architects and project team for coordination and clash detection. Includes preparation and issuing of architectural models
  • Handling of CAD information generated internally or by external sources to link into Revit – DWG and 3DM
  • Modelling and drawing production in Revit to help the team meet deadlines in a time-efficient manner

Skills/knowledge required:

  • Revit: minimum of three years’ experience. Must demonstrate the ability to build high quality content and working knowledge of how standards and processes impact team performance
  • AutoCAD: basic level of competency essential. Sufficient knowledge required to support cleaning and linking of information with Revit
  • Sketchup: basic level of competency essential to translate models into Revit
  • Design coordination: experience with automated clash detection
  • Knowledge of UK building regulations and construction detailing
  • A degree in architectural technology or a related subject
  • Experience working on different RIBA work stages from concept to completion
  • Experience using the Autodesk cloud (A360 / Autodesk Drive) for coordination with consultants.

Architect

RCKa is looking for an architect with a minimum of 2 years post Part III UK experience. You will initially deputise on a project team, delivering a specialist residential project through stage 2a to 4a.

A track record of leading projects / packages of work through all project stages, from inception to completion, is essential. Knowledge of Autodesk Revit, and the Adobe Creative Suite is also required.

Part II Architectural Assistant

We are looking for the right person to join our friendly and collaborative studio to help deliver a wide range of innovative residential and community schemes. RCKa – CAD/BIM Technician & HR/Comms Lead

Exciting opportunity for talented staff to join our friendly creative team 

RCKa is an expanding, people-focused practice of architects, urban designers and policy makers. Our ambition is to enhance the wellbeing of individuals, support the creation of cohesive communities, and help wider society meet its economic, social and environmental objectives.

We work across sectors and are specifically looking for support for some exciting new projects that include a new landscape-led SEND school for the Children’s Trust, a variety of specialist residential schemes including intergenerational and airspace developments, infill and larger-scale housing up to 150 new homes, rural masterplanning, public engagement, co-design and community centres. 

We are on the lookout for two new members of staff with specialist skills to join our growing team.

CAD / BIM Technician

Key responsibilities: 

  • Undertake daily model maintenance
  • Weekly handling of incoming and outgoing models between architects and project team, including preparation and issuance of architectural models
  • Document project-specific processes as required where this will aid the team
  • Handling of CAD information generated internally or by external sources to link into Revit – DWG and 3DM
  • Modelling and drawing production in both Revit and AutoCad to help the team meet deadlines in a time-efficient manner
  • Updating and maintaining Revit library including families and typical details
  • Testing plugins and other software
  • Set-up of project files – review and best advise how individual projects are to be set-up and arranged in Revit
  • Work with BIM strategist to improve RCKa internal systems
  • Offer day to day guidance to other staff on use of software – e.g. informal tutorials, “how to” guides and so on
  • Assist in preparation of BIM execution plans for individual projects

Skills/knowledge required:

HR & Comms Lead

Key responsibilities:

  • A dual focus on HR matters and communications
  • An empathetic and independent first point of contact for HR matters
  • Management of our external HR support providers
  • Producing a range of creative writing from website/social media content to project pitches and bids
  • Manage and assist in securing PR opportunities including press articles, public speaking events etc.

Skills/knowledge required:

  • Interest / experience in HR matters
  • Excellent creative writing and verbal communication skills
  • Experienced in Microsoft Office suite, Adobe Creative Suite
