Architecture Assistant Part 2

Freehaus is looking for an exceptional candidate who is highly motivated and talented to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will be an experienced or recently qualified Part II, with ambition to play a key role in project design outputs and grow into the role of project architect lead. The ideal candidate will have a strong working knowledge of Microstation and ideally, Revit.

The new team member will complement our talented practice of architects and designers, they will need to be a good communicator and be able to work collaboratively and deliver rigorously. Because we are a small practice, we will often work on several projects concurrently, at different scales and RIBA stages. Adaptability, flexibility, and self-motivation are therefore essential qualities to have.

Whilst the role is envisaged to be a full time-role, we are open to exploring part-time roles and allowing for flexibility.

Currently, Freehaus is working with a wide range of clients, within a breadth of contexts, from grade listed settings to public spaces and cultural institutions. The successful candidate will be involved in several projects, concentrating on exciting community-focused projects and engagement-led neighbourhood strategies for local areas around London.

The position requires the following essential experience:

  • Graduate Part II / Experienced Part II
  • Have a solid understanding of Microstation.
  • Have worked in a similar role at a design-led architecture practice.
  • The ability to contribute to design packages.
  • The ability to author reports and other written documents.

Additional preferred experience:

  • A solid knowledge of Revit including but not limited to Revit modelling, model management and content creation experience.
  • Have client facing experience.
  • Have worked on a broad range of project, particularly from RIBA stage 3-4 onwards.
  • An understanding of BIM standards and processes.
  • Ideally have some knowledge of Dynamo or other visual programming languages.
  • Have experience of working with, and presenting to, multiple stakeholder clients.
  • Have Photoshop InDesign and Illustrator proficiency.

Freehaus is an award-winning RIBA Chartered practice based in London and Oxfordshire. We seek to demonstrate the positive impact good design can have; not only on the way we live but also on the way we interact with each other and the world around us. With a background in architecture we also have specialisms in sustainability, heritage and community-led design, we work at all scales and across a breadth of sectors.

Founded by Tom Bell and Jonathan Hagos, Freehaus is a diverse yet like-minded studio of architects who make accessible, honest and representative buildings. The places Freehaus designs are anchored to their location, and authentic to both their people and context. The practice’s buildings are made to last: they are clearly configured, and in turn reconfigurable, to extend their social, environmental and heritage value. They are put together with care and economy, and refined through detail and craft.

The Freehaus studio is a safe place to play, where everyone has agency and responsibility is shared. The team are bound by mutual warmth, respect and curiosity and, as a ‘free haus’, their minds – and studio walls – are open, liberating them to specialise and evolve.
